Description
Shredded coconut is “grated” bits of coconut, usually in long thin strips/strands. They are then dried out, but still, retain more moisture than desiccated coconut. Desiccated coconut is finely ground coconut, rather than bigger strips. This is also usually drier than shredded coconut. Some dried coconut is purely coconut, but others are manufactured with other ingredients, such as sugar, propylene glycol, salt, and sodium metabisulfite. Fresh shredded or flaked coconut is also used as a garnish in various dishes. Desserts can be emphasized with the use of sweetened desiccated coconut. It can be stirred into cakes, pies, and cookies. One ounce of desiccated coconut contains 80% healthy, saturated fat. · Selenium is a mineral that helps the body produce enzymes, which enhance the immune system.
